It all started in 1994, the same year Old Navy opened when Loin King first came out, and people only paid $4.08 to see it! My parents like to say “They had a pleasant surprise ” that year, that was an awkward lunch convo at Chillis. Being the youngest of three, life has had its perks like as a kid I use to run around the house with my fisher-price camera, that didn’t work. My father or my sister would chase after me a take real photos with the family camera so I can say I took them. As kids in my class were drawing their houses and family I drew my own little city, I called it Musictown, that was on an Island in the Mt Hope Bay that use to be an island filled with prisons but then got converted into a world-class city. Every picture I drew was a different place in this city; I would draw a local music shop, a café, a pizza store and so on. All of these fake places would be branded.
So I guess you can say I’ve been in advertising since I was a kid. All because everything was spelled wrong and wouldn’t work doesn’t mean I don’t have kid-experience. So when it was time to pick a high school, in southern MA it's a big decision, you got the Catholic high schools, the public high schools, the farming school, or a Voc-Tech. So to help me with a career that I love I went to the Voc-Tech, AKA Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School (say that one time fast), so that way I can study my dream career of Drafting (ha surprise twist huh?) Freshman year before you pick/ get assigned a shop you have to go through all the shops to see what you like. That’s when I realized that drafting was just drawing math and Graphic Design was drawing. So I changed my mind and did that.
After High school, I went to Johnson & Wales University (JWU) in Rhode Island, for creative advertising (another plot twist it’s not just a culinary school). While I was there I was the Design & Resource Room Manager for JWU’s Dept. of Student Involvement & Leadership. Here I designed the promo merchandise and posters for on-campus events. I was also the Executive Vice President of the Student Government Association and had some pretty sweet internships. One at Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless where I designed emails, newsletters, and promo posters for the Org. The other at PMC: Media group where I made Social media posts for some of their clients such as Flint Audio, and Flo’s clam shack, just to name a few. Since then I have worked on many freelance projects at Middlesex Savings Bank, 99 Restaurant of Dartmouth, and others. In my down time, I like to take long walks on the beach while taking photos and designing random logos and what not.
